Agricultural Program

Teaching youth to reconnect with Mother Earth is the emphasis of our Agricultural Program.

Children will experience the native way of blessing the ground before planting, connecting with the seed before placing it in the ground, and teaching the youth to have respect for the water that sustains life.

Children will be taught planting, garden maintenance, harvesting, and preservation / canning techniques as part of their learning environment.

Our staff of Holistic experts will teach what plants have medicinal qualities and how to prepare them so they are effective.

Our agriculture department will also focus on animals and their sustainable by-products. Youth will be taught to work with cows, chickens, goats, and other livestock. Products such as milk, cheese, eggs, and jerky will be part of the students daily learning activities. Students will be shown how to use all the parts of an animal for different purposes and how to give thanks and respect to the animal as it gives up its life to help sustain ours.

We also have a staff of dedicated horticulturists who have developed advanced greenhouse technologies and living soil projects that will benefit the entire community. These projects are in development for production in 2010 through our Four Winds non-profit organization and will provide opportunities for future employment for youth in our program as well as providing large quantities of fresh organic food for consumption . Proceeds from revenue created will be used for future development of Four Winds projects and to provide scholarships for students who can not afford to attend our academy .

Agriculture should be a staple in today's academics. Our children need to know where their food comes from, how to grow it, and how to eat healthy again.
